904L stainless steel is a low carbon high alloyed austenitic stainless steel. This stainless steel is designed for harsh environments under corrosion conditions. At first, stainless steel is manufactured for sulfuric acid corrosion resistance.  This has been proved to be a great success after many years practical application. Now, 904L have been standardized in many countries.
As high chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper proportion, 904L enjoys excellent corrosion resistance such as the uniform corrosion, especially in dilute sulfuric acid.

Good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
High resistance to stress corrosion, cracking capacity
Good resistance to intergranular corrosion
Good machinability and weldability
